Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains how Wifi QR may and may not be used. It applies to anyone who accesses or uses wifiqr.net, including visitors, users of the Wi-Fi QR code generator, and users of any related features or services.

This AUP is part of the Terms of Service. By using Wifi QR, you agree to comply with this policy and all applicable laws and regulations.

The purpose of this policy is to keep Wifi QR available, secure, reliable, and useful for legitimate users while preventing the service from being used to facilitate abuse, unauthorized access, fraud, or other harmful activity.

1. General Rule

You may use Wifi QR only for lawful, legitimate, and authorized purposes. You are responsible for your use of the service and for ensuring that anything you create, submit, distribute, or facilitate through Wifi QR complies with applicable law and does not violate the rights of others.

If you are unsure whether a particular use is permitted, you should not use Wifi QR for that purpose until you have obtained appropriate authorization or clarification.

2. Unauthorized Access Is Prohibited

You must not use Wifi QR to facilitate unauthorized access to any Wi-Fi network, computer, server, device, account, application, website, database, or other information system.

This includes, without limitation:

• creating QR codes containing Wi-Fi credentials obtained without authorization;
• sharing credentials belonging to another person or organization without permission;
• using stolen, leaked, guessed, intercepted, or otherwise unlawfully obtained credentials;
• attempting to gain access to a network or system without the owner's permission;
• facilitating unauthorized access by another person;
• bypassing authentication, authorization, access controls, or security mechanisms; or
• assisting another person in gaining unauthorized access to a network or system.

3. Credential Theft and Misuse

Wifi QR must not be used to collect, distribute, expose, sell, trade, or otherwise misuse Wi-Fi passwords or other authentication credentials belonging to another person or organization without authorization.

You must not use Wifi QR as part of a scheme designed to obtain passwords or other authentication information through deception, impersonation, phishing, social engineering, or fraudulent means.

Legitimate network administrators and authorized users may use Wifi QR to share credentials for networks they are authorized to manage or disclose.

4. Fraud, Phishing, and Deception

You must not use Wifi QR to facilitate fraud, phishing, impersonation, scams, or deceptive practices.

This includes using QR codes or the Wifi QR service to intentionally mislead people about the identity of a person, organization, business, network, service, website, or other destination.

You must not create or distribute QR codes as part of an attempt to trick users into revealing passwords, payment information, personal information, authentication tokens, or other sensitive information.

5. Malware and Harmful Software

You must not use Wifi QR to facilitate the distribution, deployment, delivery, installation, or operation of malware or other harmful software.

This includes, without limitation:

• viruses;
• worms;
• trojans;
• ransomware;
• spyware;
• credential-stealing software;
• keyloggers;
• botnets;
• destructive scripts; or
• other software intended to compromise, damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.

6. Network and System Abuse

You must not use Wifi QR in a manner that interferes with or threatens the security, availability, reliability, or performance of Wifi QR or its supporting infrastructure.

Prohibited activities include:

• attempting to disrupt or disable the website or its infrastructure;
• intentionally generating excessive requests or traffic;
• attempting to bypass rate limits or technical restrictions;
• performing denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks;
• probing, scanning, or testing systems for vulnerabilities without authorization;
• attempting to gain unauthorized access to servers, databases, APIs, or internal systems;
• exploiting security vulnerabilities without authorization;
• interfering with other users' access to the service; or
• intentionally introducing malicious traffic or requests into the service.

7. Automated Access, Bots, and Scraping

You must not use bots, scripts, crawlers, automated browsers, scraping tools, or other automated systems to access or interact with Wifi QR in a manner that places excessive load on the service, circumvents technical restrictions, collects information without authorization, or interferes with normal operation.

Reasonable automated access that is explicitly permitted by Wifi QR may be allowed. Any API, developer interface, or automated integration offered by Wifi QR may be subject to separate technical limits and terms.

We may impose or change rate limits, request limits, access restrictions, or other technical controls at any time to protect the service and its users.

8. Abuse of APIs or Future Integrations

If Wifi QR provides an API, developer tools, integrations, or other programmatic access, you must use those features only in accordance with their applicable documentation, limits, and terms.

You must not use an API or integration to circumvent website restrictions, create excessive traffic, harvest information, facilitate unauthorized access, or perform activities that would violate this AUP if performed through the website.

We may suspend, restrict, revoke, or terminate API keys, credentials, integrations, or programmatic access when reasonably necessary to prevent abuse or protect the service.

9. Privacy and Personal Information

You must not use Wifi QR to unlawfully collect, expose, publish, distribute, or process another person's personal information.

You must not use the service as part of a scheme to collect passwords, authentication credentials, financial information, government identification information, or other sensitive personal information without an appropriate lawful basis and authorization.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Wifi QR complies with privacy and data protection laws applicable to you.

10. Intellectual Property Violations

You must not use Wifi QR to infringe, misappropriate, or otherwise violate another person's intellectual property rights.

This includes unauthorized use of copyrighted material, trademarks, logos, trade names, designs, software, or other protected content.

You are responsible for obtaining any permissions or licenses required for content you choose to create, display, publish, or distribute using Wifi QR.

11. Illegal or Harmful Activities

You must not use Wifi QR to facilitate activity that violates applicable laws or regulations.

This includes using the service to facilitate fraud, theft, harassment, threats, stalking, abuse, unauthorized surveillance, cyberattacks, evasion of lawful restrictions, or other unlawful conduct.

The fact that a particular activity can technically be performed using a QR code does not make that activity permitted under this AUP.

12. Harmful or Abusive Content

You must not use Wifi QR as part of a campaign or activity intended to harass, threaten, intimidate, defraud, or deliberately harm another person or organization.

Wifi QR may take action against uses of the service that create a material risk of harm to users, third parties, the service, or its infrastructure, even where the particular conduct is not expressly listed in this policy.

13. Circumvention of Security Measures

You must not attempt to bypass, disable, defeat, evade, or otherwise circumvent any security mechanism, authentication system, access control, rate limit, abuse-prevention system, or other technical restriction implemented by Wifi QR.

This includes creating multiple accounts, identities, sessions, IP addresses, or automated processes for the purpose of evading restrictions or enforcement measures.

14. Misrepresentation

You must not falsely represent that you are affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or acting on behalf of Wifi QR or another person or organization.

You must not use Wifi QR branding, trademarks, website design, or other materials in a manner likely to create confusion about the source, ownership, sponsorship, or endorsement of a service or activity.

15. Security Research

Security research, testing, scanning, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or similar activity against Wifi QR systems is not permitted without prior authorization.

If you believe you have discovered a security vulnerability affecting Wifi QR, please contact us through the Contact page and provide enough information for us to understand and investigate the issue.

Please do not exploit a suspected vulnerability, access information belonging to other users, disrupt the service, or continue testing beyond what is reasonably necessary to report the issue.

16. Protecting Your Own Wi-Fi Information

Although Wifi QR is designed to process Wi-Fi information locally during QR generation, you are responsible for protecting the QR codes you create.

A Wi-Fi QR code may contain the network password in an encoded format. You should not publicly display or distribute a QR code if doing so would give unauthorized people access to your network.

If a QR code is accidentally exposed, you should consider changing your Wi-Fi password or taking other appropriate security measures.

17. Enforcement

Wifi QR may investigate suspected violations of this AUP and may take any action that we reasonably consider appropriate to protect the service, users, third parties, or infrastructure.

Depending on the circumstances, actions may include:

• issuing warnings;
• limiting access or functionality;
• blocking requests or traffic;
• applying rate limits;
• blocking IP addresses or other technical identifiers;
• suspending or terminating accounts;
• revoking API keys or integrations;
• removing or restricting access to content where applicable;
• preserving relevant information for security or legal purposes; or
• referring suspected illegal activity to appropriate authorities where required or reasonably appropriate.

We are not required to provide advance notice before taking action when immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, third parties, or infrastructure, or when required by law.

18. Reporting Abuse

If you believe that Wifi QR is being used for fraud, unauthorized access, malware, phishing, abuse, security attacks, or other prohibited activity, please report the issue through the Contact page.

When reporting abuse, provide as much relevant information as reasonably possible, including the nature of the suspected abuse, relevant URLs or QR codes, approximate dates and times, and any other information that may help us investigate.

Do not include passwords, private keys, payment information, or other unnecessary sensitive information in an abuse report.

19. No Obligation to Monitor Everything

Wifi QR is not obligated to proactively monitor every use of the service or every QR code created through it.

The absence of monitoring does not mean that any activity is authorized or permitted. We reserve the right to investigate activity when we become aware of suspected abuse or when investigation is reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, third parties, or comply with applicable law.

20. Third-Party Content and Services

Wifi QR may link to or interact with third-party websites, services, applications, advertisements, or other resources. This AUP does not govern the conduct of those third parties.

You are responsible for complying with the applicable terms, policies, and laws when interacting with third-party services.

21. Consequences of Violations

A violation of this AUP may also constitute a violation of the Terms of Service.

Depending on the severity and circumstances of a violation, Wifi QR may take immediate action without prior warning. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent restriction or termination of access.

Where appropriate, we may also pursue available legal remedies or cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.

22. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to address new technologies, abuse patterns, security threats, changes to the service, or changes in applicable law.

When we update this policy, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes may be communicated through additional notice where appropriate or required by applicable law.

Your continued use of Wifi QR after an updated policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

23. Relationship to the Terms of Service

This Acceptable Use Policy supplements the Terms of Service and forms part of the rules governing your use of Wifi QR.

If there is a conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will control unless the applicable provision of this AUP expressly states otherwise.
